Ten Free Tools To Manage Your Passwords


There has been a rise in the number of Web services and other social networking sites. Because of this, we have to create accounts on all these sites and remember there passwords. One good idea would be to use a single username and password for all your accounts but this would compromise the security. And besides, to stay protected from hackers, your passwords should be long and should contains a mix of numeric, alphanumeric characters. It is easy to create these long passwords but it is difficult to remember all of them. But there are a lot of free utilities available using which you can easily create and manage your passwords from a single location. I am going to list a few of those tools which can make your life easy.



1) LastPass
My personal favourite is Lastpass. It is a secure password manager which can save all your web passwords so you won’t have to remember them. All you need to remember will be a single password to login to Lastpass. It comes with IE and Firefox extension and can easily detect a login or signup page and can also generate a password. The passwords are stored online in Encrypted format and can be accessed from any Computer.


2) KeePass
KeePass is a free and Open Source Password Manager which can store all your passwords in a secure manner. You can store all your password in a database which can be protected by a master password or a key file.The database is encrypted using a secure algorithm. It runs on all the platforms including mobile phones and a portable version is also available. The database can also be exported.


3) S10 Password Vault
S10 Password Vault is a password manager which can securely save all your passwords using AES 256bit algorithm. You can organize your accounts into a folder like hierarchy and you can even specify a website with each account so that you can launch and auto login to it. It also protects its own password fields from key loggers by sending decoy strokes. It can also take backup of the password file at specified intervals.


4) RoboForm
RoboForm is another great utility which can store all your passwords and can even help you fill out web forms. It also has extensions for both IE and Firefox, can generate passwords and can also sync them between computers. It is also portable. The free version has limited features while pro version costs $29.95 but has more features.


5) FlyingBit Password Keeper
FlyingBit Password Keeper is a free utility which stores all your password in a Database which is protected by a secure algorithm. If you want, you can also store your database on a removable media. You can also group passwords into categories and also set its lifetime.



6) LSN Password Safe
LSN Password Safe is a secure Password Manager with integrated features to prevent key loggers and other malwares. It also has extensive security like on screen keyboard, CAPTCHA, memory protection and more. It also has a password generator, can take a backup regularly, synchronize with USB disk.


7) Clipperz
Clipperz is a free online anonymous password manager. It is not just a password manager, you can store all your private notes and other information. All your data is also secured so that you are assured that no one can read your data. You can also store your online data into local disk and can create a read only portable version which can be used without any internet connection.

Efficient Password Manager is a free and basic password manager using which you can organize and store all your passwords into a single location. It does have some limited features but it is useful for those who are looking for a basic utility.


9) MyPadlock
MyPadlock Password Manager can be used to keep all your passwords in a simple safe location. All your passwords are stored in a file encrypted with AES 128bit encryption. You can even copy and paste password without someone being able to see it as it does not display it.


10) Sxipper
Sxipper is a Firefox add-on that can keep track of all your usernames and passwords. It is very easy to use and can even help you in filling up the form. It can also help you in managing your OpenIDs.
